Dante's 10th Circle of Hell

This oil painting is a satirical yet cautionary extension of classical mythology. While Dante described only nine circles of Hell, you invent the tenth: The Hell of Immoderate Gluttony and Sweet Ruin. It is a world where humanity drowns in its own desires.

The Anatomy of the Sweet Apocalypse:

• The Journey Through the Chocolate Stream: In the center, a red inflatable boat with the inscription "EXPLORER" is visible. Two figures, reminiscent of Dante and his guide Virgil, sit inside. They navigate not the River Styx, but a massive sea of molten, viscous chocolate that permeates the entire picture like a primordial force.
• The Rocket of Decadence: A silver rocket with a red tip and a prominent radioactivity symbol drills into a gigantic waffle. The rocket is garnished with cream puffs or pastries. It is the ultimate symbol of a highly technological society that conceals its destructive power behind a facade of sugar and indulgence.
• The Siege of the Senses: The boat is surrounded by mountains of tarts, chocolate bars, whipped cream, and pralines. A solitary birthday candle burns on a piece of cake – a symbol of transience and the celebration of one's own demise.
• The Musical Swan Song: In the bottom right corner, hands reach for a golden trumpet. It seems like the last signal, a fanfare announcing the end of the world, dissolving into the sweet rush of chocolate.
