This work turns the classic myth on its head and tells a story about believing in the impossible.

The Reversal of Fate

Icarus and the Law: The ancient Icarus failed due to physical limitations – the sun melted the wax of his wings, gravity took its toll. His flight was an act of hubris that ended in a fall.

The Bumblebee and the Miracle: At the center of the image is the bumblebee. From a purely physical and aerodynamic perspective, this creature, with its body weight and small wing area, shouldn't be able to fly at all. But the bumblebee knows nothing of the laws of physics – and so it simply flies.

The Contrast: Where Icarus shattered against reality, the bumblebee creates a new reality simply by its existence. It not only flies, it fearlessly steers towards the dazzling light-volume of the sun without crashing.

The Light-Volume as a Space of Freedom

The oil glazes make the forest and the sunbeams appear so vibrant that one can almost feel the warmth on the bumblebee's wings. Here, light (Lumen) is not a destroyer like it was for Icarus, but the space where the impossible becomes real.

The bumblebee is a symbol for all of us – it reminds us that limits often exist only in our minds (or in textbooks).
