The Diplomaturgie

This work is a monumental inventory of world politics as a ritual service (liturgy) of diplomatic action. It is a visual manifesto on the soullessness of power, depicted in a masterful composition on wood and chalk ground.

The symbolism of the "Diplomat Liturgy" in detail:

The Sacred Game: At the top of the painting, church steeples and minarets become dominoes. Faith is degraded here to a mere pawn in a global game.

The Actors of Madness: A plastic soldier, the Queen of Hearts playing card, and the pawn and king from a chess game illustrate the different levels of hierarchy. While the king rules, the king's shadow next to the floating boat serves as a cautionary reminder of transience and the dark side of power.

Culture and Connection: A violin and a ring stand lost in space – symbols of harmony and fidelity, which in this ritualistic process are often reduced to mere props.

The Fragile Balance: Pick-up sticks act as stilts, precariously supporting the various flags (nations). One wrong move, and the entire construct of "Diplomaturgy" collapses.

Nature and Instinct: The firmly rooted tree in the center contrasts with the artificial game, while the lion and lamb (born from the skull) mark the eternal tension between power and sacrifice. Spider monkey and angel have become mere toys.
