A Surrealist Monument Against the Total Domestication of Our Environment
What at first glance appears to be an idyllic hilly landscape reveals itself upon closer inspection as a "construction site of artificiality." Humans use their domestic tools to violently shape nature.
The Tools of Deformation: The coffee grinder pulverizes the earth, the iron smooths out the natural structure, and the cake tin presses life into an artificial norm.
The Blueprint: Pencils, threads, and thumbtacks mark the boundaries and parcels. Nature is degraded into an object of a development plan.
The Dissolution of Boundaries: The torn wallpaper in the sky signals that no true "outside" exists here anymore. The clothes hanger in the tree and the cutlery in the ground show: Humans have transformed nature into their living room – and in doing so, stripped it of its wildness.
The Domestic Prison: The hovering shoes and garden tools symbolize an order that has replaced naturalness with artificiality.
It is dangerous when the analogue (the living) is trimmed to fit the grid of a draftsman. It is a monstrosity that we disguise as progress.
