Description
The Sermon of the Elements
This work is a modern altarpiece. The gorilla, enthroned as a wise king and guardian, holds the "8" (the billiard ball) on its head – a symbol of playing with fate and infinity. It presides over the sources of our existence:
- Energy: Above, light bulbs glow – the light of the spirit, but also the hunger for electricity.
- Wind Power: A bird carries the message "Wind" – the longing for clean movement.
- Pecunia (Greed): The vulture with the note "Pecunia" symbolizes the money-driven decay circling above everything.
- Resources: The drill represents oil, the faucet represents precious water – both under human control, but observed by the animal.
- Danger: To the right, a mushroom grows – a silent, menacing symbol of nuclear power.
As in Saint Francis of Assisi's Sermon to the Birds, nature speaks to us here, but the message is a warning: Be careful that the game is not lost.
